Default Using a PT version past your subscription plan

Hi All,
My subscription plan expired at 12.7.1. I missed the expiration notice. If I was to install 12.8.3 from my friend, would it work on my license? Thanks.

No. The license is valid while the subscription is active. Renew the subscription and you'll be up and running again.

Do you have a perpetual license or an actual subscription? Unfortunately, people with a perpetual license call it a subscription, so that's why I'm asking.

If you indeed have a perpetual license, you have PT 12.7.1 and can continue using that PT version for as long as you like, but cannot upgrade past 12.7.1.

If you have a subscription, you won't be able to open PT at all as the license is only good for as long as your subscription period is. Once that period is up, you have to continue to pay to play.

BTW, using someone else's upgrade file with a perpetual license that's expired would be a violation of Avid's EULA, most likely wouldn't work because you only have a license up to 12.7.1 and may call home to report the attempt.

Great points. I have a perpetual license but was calling it a subscription. So if I renew the support plan now, would I still be able to download 12.8.3? I'm worried that it would skip the version and go to PT 2018. Thanks.
