Default brass

are there any virtual instruments that i can download that have a realistic brass sample. the brass (trumpets, trombones ect.) in expand just sounds too fake so I was wondering if there is a instrument that has a realistic brass sound.

Depends what style you're after (orchestral, jazz, pop) and how much money you've got!

On a budget the Garritan stuff is OK. Garritan P.O. for orchestra or Garritan Jazz and Big Band for other stuff.

I believe Arturia Brass is OK (good reviews but don't know much about it).

If you want the really expensive option the Vienna Orchestra Brass can be obtained for a hefty price.

Hope that's of some help.

Uh, no. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

While it's not cheap, Sonivox has THE BEST brass set I've heard to date. It's called Broadway Big Band. Properly used, one would be hard pressed to know it wasn't real. Check the site...

i just hired a trumpet player to track some parts i wrote using east west pop brass samples.

the samples were fine, BUT there is nothing better than getting a live player to record the parts! it made huge difference in the track.

Liquid horns sounds great, but it's mostly set riffs you can do minor edits to. For pop stuff, I actually really like Kontakt 3's library. Sounds better than First Call Horns which was my go to until recently.

Nothing beats Vienna Symphonic for orchestral IMHO.
