How do I screen capture a PT session?
Hi all,
Im trying to make some tutorials that involve working in PT, however none of the softwares that I have used have ASIO support. I tried CamTasia and CamStudio to no avail. I can record video, but not the audio coming from PT. Has anyone been ever able to record screen videos of PT with audio? Thanks, please help if you can...please |

Re: How do I screen capture a PT session?
might need another computer with a mic input and use a head mic or something, then inside of camtasia you can combine the audio and video. or i have done the video while talking myself through it. then import the video into pro tools afterward and record the v.o. then export it out and drag into camtasia from there.

Re: How do I screen capture a PT session?
Hi, yeah I thought about that option, however I don't have a disposable 2nd computer. Not a laptop anyway, I do have a very old machine.
You seem to think that there is no way to capture the audio from PT? |

Re: How do I screen capture a PT session?
Jing is Camtasia's little brother. The answer would be the same for both.
The only way to get audio from Pro Tools into Jing/Camtasia is to route it manually (cable from Digidesign hardware output to input of stock computer or other soundcard).

Re: How do I screen capture a PT session?
If you cannot beg, borrow or steal a second computer, maybe it would be possible to do this with a camcorder or other video recording device. If your computer video card has an S-video output, or even a second VGA port, you could make a recording to a camcorder, dvd recorder, or other recording device with an S-video cord, or with the use of a VGA-to-S-video adapter. As mentined earlier, you would also have to route the sound through a patch cord from your Digi hardware. Afterward you could capture the video back to a computer to edit it. Or if you are happy with the video, just make copies. So you would just need to find a device that will record a S-video signal and sound.
Let us know what you decided to do.
