SSD and PT8
Hello.
I'v been reading through the harddrive compabillity pages on Digidesign support section for Mbox2 Pro. http://digidesign.com/index.cfm?navi...5&itemid=23140 But I can't find any information about SSD disk support there. Does that mean that SSD is not supported ? So I have to ask somebody here on the DUC. Has anybody had experience with SSD disks and PT8 ? How is a internal two disk SSD solution (one for system and one for recording) compared to a two disk SATA solution ? Anybody tried this ? What about internal SSD for system and internal SATA for recording ? Reguards |

Re: SSD and PT8
I have no idea what it will take to make it right for PT right now. But no doubt, it is the future.

Re: SSD and PT8
right now my understanding is the affordable ssd's do not have the performance to withstand audio writing and reading. the extreme high end units may, but no one wants to spend the money for something that may work and may not.

Re: SSD and PT8
So for the time being, an standard ssd as system disk and an internal sata as recording is the best way to go ?
I'm asking because im looking for a new pc to run with PT8. Got my eye on the upcoming Shuttle SX58H7 with Core I7 support. It's important to me that my next pc system is very quiet but still more than fast enough to run 30+ audio/instrument tracks, hopefully with low latency. |

So... I picked up a 30G Vertex drive for $83 (after rebate and special OCZ forum promo code). Should have it in a couple days, so I'm going to try putting PT 7 on the SSD and record to the regular SATA drive. If things go well, I might pickup up another 60G ssd ($209 at Newegg) for virtual instruments. My guess is that it would be killer. I wouldn't mind having my system boot in 10-15 seconds, and perhaps get increased PTLE performance. And if Digi wants to send a copy of PT 8 my way, I'll be happy to check it out for them...
