Default 7.4 Cursor Playback & Record Weirdness - New Feature...

Or Bug?

7.4 seems to be okay on my Dual AMD so far - except for the greyed out 1 Processor option and one other rather strange thing with my Cursor. When I push the Space Bar to Play, the Cursor jumps back about 50 to 100 milliseconds or so. It's not consistent. NOTE: Pre Roll is NOT on. I've double and triple checked that there is no Pre Roll, the Pre Roll Bar is not even lit and there is only zeroes in the value box.

Can anyone else duplicate this or is there something I've toggled incorrectly. I've never seen this on any version of Pro Tools LE I've had from 5.1 to 7.3.1cs5.

If this is by design, it's very annoying. If it's a bug...

Thanks,

Default Re: 7.4 & Cursor...

Update. I've been doing some recording. When I engage Record, the Cursor still jumps back 50 to 100 milliseconds or so - it's not consistent - then moves forward, but Recording doesn't start until the point where I originally had the Cursor. In Playback, when the Cursor moves back from it's starting position, the Audio plays from the jump-back point, not from where the Cursor was originally placed.

This is all very strange. Can anyone with 7.4 please confirm or deny this new feature - or bug - whatever it is?

Thanks,

Do you have dynamic transport enabled at the same time as the pre-roll?

Never used it. I'll check that when I'm in PT.

Thanks,

Kevin!

I almost always update asap, but wait for others to solve problems. This was just a very annoying little "glitch" that showed up and I wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing the same thing.

How's by you?

Cheers,

spkguitar,

I have confirmed in a session that neither Pre Roll nor Dynamic Transport are enabled. However, the problem persists in any session. The Cursor will jump back 50 to 100 milliseconds in Play and play from the jump-back point. In Record, the Cursor will jump back 50 to 100 milliseconds, but recording starts from the initial/correct Cursor position.

This is very strange behaviour indeed. I have never seen this before and I've been on Pro Tools since 5.1.

Cheers,

Howdy Bruce...

Things are good, generally busy except for my hurry up and wait schedule today. (Hence me hanging around here) It's going to be a silly couple of months leading up to Christmas, but that's just making up for the summer.

Hopefully I'll see you for some gig before Christmas, but who knows how things'll shape up.

Hope you're keeping busy, & good luck with your glitch!

Kevin
