no matter how good PnT is or was, it was always a WAY overpriced plugin. Now that they're basically saying "forget all you people who gave us hundreds of dollars, we're not updating that plugin". I'll never give Serato my money again. Also, they're still selling it on their website! Just a terrible company. I'm happy to find alternatives and I'm glad there are some.

I'm mostly in agreement with you on this and it was a huge investment around 15 years ago. The only thing on the original price was that plugins were considerably more expensive back then.

The thing that got me was it is another $99 to upgrade from v2 to v3, but don't look like they will take it to Silicon.

It would be great if Serato would make some kind of comment.

Their no comment means "not gonna happen". Same thing with their Rane Series which never went from TDM to AAX. Silence. They do not want to say no, so they say nothing.

I'm on a Mac Studio in Native mode. X-Form is still awful to use. Plus, when you're experimenting, and using TCE, or playing with stretching or pitching, meaning you may need to do a dozen attempts or more on a clip of audio to find what you're looking for...X-Form will have you absolutely hating life.

Just for fun did a little experiment.

I pitch shifted and time stretched the same 1 minute clip of audio with 3 plugins. Here are how long they took:

Pitch N Time:          1.71 seconds
Waves Sound Shifter:   2.98 seconds
X-Form:                23.15 seconds

Wasn't trying to be super scientific. But yeah. X-Form was over 12 times slower than PnT and almost 8 times slower than Waves.

Also PnT was done in Rosetta mode on my Mac Studio. The other 2 plugs were done in Native mode.

PnT is still the king.

It's not the processing speed that makes PnT special, but its algorithm. However, the company's maintenance policy is questionable. I think they're concentrating on their DJ stuff nowadays.

Honestly speaking it’s really program specific. There really is no 1 size fits all for every situation.

Having all of the options mentioned, and a few others not mentioned such as repitch and revoice, I often have to experiment to see which is the best choice.

X form can be cool but takes forever!!!
Sometimes sound shifter clearly wins
Others pnt, sometimes élastique and still others elastic audio.

I Will say for hardcore, problem solving, project saving emergency surgery, PnT and sound shifter usually are the clear winners. I would not want to lose PnT for situations like that.
