Sayed,

Good, looks like you posted a copy of your results. Looking at the DPC Test, I would say that latency could very well be your problem. Latencies of 500-1000 can prevent recording a low buffer ranges, which is your problem. If you want to record at 128 and 64 buffer, you will need to be under 100ms. On a nicely tuned machine with good drivers you should be between 12-50ms.

Now you need to know which of your devices is causing the problem. I would leave PT off while you determine this. First disable the WiFi in the Device Manager, then run the test again. Then also disable the network and run the test again. Then disable the integrated video in the BIOS (you have the G31 chipset) and run the test again. Check to see as you remove each item if the latencies decline. Then post your results again with all three of the mentioned items disabled. If your problem still exists, then we need to change the driver on the nVidia video card to the MS driver, to see if this will help, as it has in other situations.

But, if changing the video driver for you nVideo card does not do it... then we will have to have a discussion about the chipset you have chosen to build an Digi Audio Workstation around.

BTW, what is the model of your card? 9xxx, 8xxx?

you spoke about disable the integrated video in the BIOS
can I do it on a this laptop knowing that the card is the mother board card
it's

Accelerator in Use: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
Video BIOS: 1668

If anything I said actually helped... don't blame me! It was posted in the Digi troubleshooting thread.

Your are correct about disabling the integrated graphics. It can only be done on a desktop system where an additional video card is used. So, you need to leave your laptop with the integrated video. IMHO, Integrated video is not as bad as it use to be. With the G965 chipset they started to use "accelerators" which did not use the host CPU to process video. Previously, the integrated video would use the host CPU and overtax the CPU and increase latencies. Bad for PT.

I would say that 41ms latency with a laptop is pretty good and you would be able to run at low latencies. I have an older IMB T41 laptop and it was also worked well with PT. I will run the late DCP Latency checker to see what the latency is compared to yours.

The latency on my older IBM T41 laptop test about 85ms with the wifi and network off. With both enabled, the latency is about 500ms. So, these changes can make a big difference in PT performance and can definately affect the hardware buffer you can run at. This has been a good mobile recording laptop and will record 16 channels audio without errors for hours. I use a second internal HD.
