waves maximiser
hey people, just borrowed a trial version of waves ultra maximiser, wow I love it, im remastering all my mixes before the trial runs out, but just wondering as it comes with no manual, wot is the difference between dither 1 and dither 2? and does that mean i dont need to use the supplied dither from digidesign across the stereo outputs when i use the maximiser? thanx dudes in advance.

Re: waves maximiser
Dither works by adding some noise and by doing so reduces low level distortion.
Type 1 adds about 5dB more background noise and according to Waves eliminates low level distortion. Type 2 adds virtually no more background noise, but at the expense of more low level distortion There are two main rules for dithering; 1) Only dither once. So use either ultramaximizer's or digi's dither, but not both. 2) The plug in providing dither should be the last in the signal flow (i.e last insert on your master fader). |
