Need advice on portable powered monitors
I'm putting together an editing system w/ PT free on an ibook and was wondering if anyone had any recommendation for a pair of small self-powered monitors. Just something I could take along to the hotel to. Any advice is appreciated!

Re: Need advice on portable powered monitors
I picked up a pair of Advent AV570 Powered Partners. They're durable and fairly loud for their size...35W/channel and 109dB SPL.

Re: Need advice on portable powered monitors
this may sound crazy but I really like my roland MA8's. My room in general can be deceptive when it comes to judging the bottom end. When i'm about to print a mix Icheck a cd and the mix through the MA8's and if the bottom end is close then I know I'm pretty close to where the bottom should be.

Re: Need advice on portable powered monitors
Have a look at the JBL LSR25P's very small and portable, cheap and don't sound as bad as some with have you think. They also have a grill on the speaker that IMO is a must for a portable monitor.

Re: Need advice on portable powered monitors
I ususally get to the hotel too late to use speakers. If you are mainly editing, I like my Sony MDR V900 headphones. They have extra large ear pieces and don't smash your head or ears as much as others. They cut out most room noise (or hall/next door noise) and they sound pretty good.
And if you can get by with LE and an Mbox on the plane, you can carry the headphones in your carry on. They collapse like most Sony's do. Very portable.
