Boxed Versions No Longer Include an iLok?

I run an online music school here in Australia and was quite disappointed to see that new boxed versions of Pro Tools (which we supply to our students) no longer include an iLok? I can only assume the AVID bean counters are responsible?

At the very least AVID should offer a boxed version which does include an iLok seeing that this is required to activate the software.

An iLok USB key is no longer required as of v2018.1. Please see the iLok Cloud FAQ to see if that could be utilized in your program.

Yeah I understand that iLok cloud is a thing these days but personally, I'm not a fan. Also, with intermittent internet issues, this can kill a session etc.

Understood. Not a solution for everyone, especially if you lack a solid internet connection. Just wanted to make sure you were aware it's no longer a strict requirement.
