Default Allen & Heath r16 and protools 11 (or 10)

I`m planning to by a second hand fireWire mixer. I know that it has been used with pro Tools 9. But is anybody using Allen & Heath r 16 with pro tools 10 or 11? .Is it working properly?

I recently setup the Allen & Heath R16 with Pro Tools 11 and 10. On first go, Pro Tools 11 recognizes the R16 but I was getting immediate CPU errors on record and playback. I then tried PT 10 and didn't have any problems (yet) with errors. Granted this was a simple one track test just to see if it was responsive.

I was also able to setup Bome Midi Translator with PT 10 and was able to get he R16 to work as a control surface (transport controls, faders). I do have a problem with one fader so the R16 has to be sent back for a replacement.

I will do MUCH more testing soon (both PT 10 & 11) and will post info as I get it.

Will do. Sweetwater is going to send me a new unit once they receive some at the end of the month.

UPDATE:

I received the replacement Allen & Heath R16 and so far everything works great with Pro Tools 10. I haven't played too much with Pro Tools 11 yet and I'll wait until more of my plugins have been converted.

I have to say that this A&H sounds amazing! Pre-amps are very clean and the unit seems to work nicely with PT 10 (low H/W Buffer with near 0 latency). Granted this is only while recording 6 tracks simultaneously and playing back 18 tracks. I will be pushing her soon and will report those findings too.

I will also play around again with PT 11 (but at this point it looks like I'll be using PT 10 for awhile).

ANOTHER UPDATE:

Just for gits and shiggles I opened my current PT 10 session into PT 11. I was able to record 16 simultaneous tracks with the H/W buffer of 32 samples and ran smooth as silk! Of course my plugins didn't work so take that into the factor.

Also the System Usage meter barely went over 8% (I have an early 2008 Mac Pro 2 x 3.2 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 18 GB ram)

I'm happy with these results so far...

Hey Guys

I've had my Zed R16 for a while and after trying for about a week, gave up getting all the midi controls working using bomes midi translator.

I'm running Windows 7, with Protools 10.3. I can get the faders to work and a few of the number butons to the right but none of the transport functions(these are what i really want to get working). Bomes is reading all the midi coming in it just doesn't seem to reach protools.

Any ideas?

Hoping to get it this time before i get frustrated again and give up.
