If an 002R were to ship today...
in your opinion (Digi, feel free to chime in on this), would it be free of any of the harness issues we've read recently so much about?

Re: If an 002R were to ship today...
I heard about that. I purchased mine about 5 months ago. How would I know if I had the harness problem?

Re: If an 002R were to ship today...
Got mine a couple weeks ago. Died. Got harness overnight. Carefully fixed it (I'm a computer geek by trade, so NO FEAR. ) Been running well for past few days. Crossing fingers.

Re: If an 002R were to ship today...
can someone help explain just WTF happens? how does a functioning unit
just stop working? is it a physical connection failure? or something that burns out? riddle me this: with so many people posting about this problem, why is Digi so reluctant to either a) Post a link on the support page with detailed info on this problem or b) At least post a list of serial numbers of units that have the bad harness installed? Or is the QC between the manufacturer in China and the hardware engineers at Digi so _bad_ that they really have no documentation or record of what units were supplied with the compromised components in the first place? (note to self, remember this next time I want to "upgrade") I'd really like to know, since I'm in the middle of scheduling some sessions offsite in a few weeks. Last thing I need is this thing to die right in the middle of a performance. Does anyone have any pics or any other info as to how to identify the dumb*ss flawed part? A real answer here from Digi would be nice. Not just a suggestion to "call our help line" after it fails. Why not be a bit more forward in addmitting the problem, and help people understand it a bit more? Otherwise it leaves a lot unnesessary anxiety to current and potential customers. HL |

Re: If an 002R were to ship today...
From what I understand, there's no way to tell which units will fail, as the problem is with some variation during manufacturing in the wire thickness on the cable harness. Not all of them have this defect as some are the proper gauge, some aren't. They said that they changed the type of harness that they're using some time in June or July, so units shipped to dealers after that shouldn't have this defect.
The other thing to keep in mind is that it may SEEM like alot of people are having this problem because most people post here only to complain, so the view is skewed a bit. I have a friend that works at a dealer and he says that most of his customers are working just fine (so far...). Digi has taken care of the 2 people that I know have had this problem very quickly - they were up and running the next day, so I don't think you should sweat it all that much. Anyone remember that Mackie had this same kind of issue with one of their products?? Someone told me they took 2 WEEKS to fix the defect! In that respect, I think Digi is doing a pretty good job. |
