Loud POP followed by loss of all sound

I've had this happen occasionally for a long time, it persists in 12.5.

I'll be working and then will get a pop, followed by loss of audio.

It seems random at this point, I can do complex mixes and not get it once, but once it happens in a session, that session will be prone to causing it repeatedly.

Is anyone else getting a problem like this? Or had it and found the cause?

EDIT: since posting I've found it's actually not a loss of all audio as i thought, rather the Aux channel I'm using as a mixbus ceases to pass audio. I can get audio if i re-route the tracks to the output. There seems to be no way to bring the aux back to life other than restarting PT - just closing and re-opening the session doesn't work, neither does removing all plugs on the aux (doing so causes pops though) nor making the aux inactive and active again. Very annoying....

spent a long time trying to track down an errant plugin to no avail, but it seems getting rid of some mute automation has solved the problem... don't know how much of this i can take.

was the Mute automation on the Aux in question ???

this has happened off and on throughout the years. i think it's plugin related, but it's never just one plugin. have had it in many situations.

specifically in 11, (and maybe in 12, but haven't tested....), using both SoundToys Effects Rack + Slate Mix Rack will cause this, if Phasemistress is inserted on the SoundToys rack.

Phasemistress as a standalone plugin outside of the rack doesn't cause this....

thanks! no the mute automation was just on a track. I made a video i'm going to send to support.

deleting that mute automation seems to have completely solved the problems i was having in the session...!

i'm pretty sure i have, it seems very closely related the the noise-blast behavior.

So, after deleting the simple mute automation I had on one track I've not had one issue with this same session all day.

i thing i see is now we slow down and tend to be more cautious .. more in the Tech Head instead of the Creative Head ... anticipating all the time ..
