Default Opened Mac session on PC & my files got screwed!

I did a project with somebody in PT5.2.1 on Mac OS9, saved as 24 bit AIFFs. Transfered the files to his hard drive at the end of the project. Then he opened them on his PC (Dell, I think) using whatever the most recent version of PT is for PC, and when he brought the files back to me to do some additional mixing, they were totally screwed up and wouldn't open no matter what I did. The audio files, instead of being AIFFs, just had a "PC" icon and no suffix. I tried everything I could think of...converting, renaming, opeing PT first and then trying to open the session...etc. PT just refused to recognize the file format. Are they somehow unrecoverable???

Oh man. Any help would be great.

Why didn't the files have extensions? If he's using MacDrive to mount a Mac formatted drive, tell him to make sure the option in MacDrive is set to keep extensions.

You need to add the extension .aif or .wav (depending on the file type)... and the extension .pts to the Pro Tools session file.

I'll have to ask him about his disk formatting and so forth. But I DID try adding the .AIF and .WAV and .PTS to the sessions, but that didn't work.

Do you have ResEdit on your Mac? If so open one of the sound files in ResEdit and tell me what the first 4 characters in the hex display are.
