Really strange behavior with Pro Tools 12.5
Hello, everyone!
Pro Tools is doing some strange stuff. I was forced to do an update to my macbook pro to Sierra 10.12.6. I assumed at that point based on what the Avid site said about compatibility with PT 12.5 and Sierra, that I would have to reinstate my plan with Avid for the $299 and go to PT 2018. I came across another thing on the Avid site that said 12.5 DOES work with Sierra, but not 10.12.6. Either way, I decided to just give it a go and Pro Tools seems to be working fine! BUT, When I opened a session that was using the TSE BOD v2 plugin that simulates the sansamp bass driver pedal, I got an error that said "The plug-in could not be made active because a AAE error was encountered. AAE error -7054 was encountered." I've never seen that AAE before. I thought maybe it didn't work with Sierra (even though it says it does on the website), so I downloaded the newer version 3 of it, and THAT works, but version 2 still won't work which means I can't get the settings. No biggie. NOW, I've encountered an even STRANGER problem. I went to use my waves L1 plugin while the session was stopped, and a dialog box with an AAE error (haven't seen it again, so I can't find the number and don't remember it). This is where it gets strange. Waves had a 25th anniversary update with a new GUI for the L1, the Q series EQ, BUT it was a paid upgrade! I SOMEHOW have the 25th anniversary editions, but never upgraded or paid for them!!! How is that even feasible?? hahah I haven't trashed preferences of PT or anything since upgrading to Sierra (can you with version 12.5?). Is this something I should do? Sorry for the long post, and thanks for reading! Mike. |

Yeah, if you're having that kind of weirdness, it couldn't hurt IMHO.

Cool! I will try that! Thank you! I noticed my fans kick on much sooner now too. Not sure if Sierra is more GPU intensive or not?

Re: Really strange behavior with Pro Tools 12.5
I noticed that! Thanks! I updated and it works fine. It's just that my old settings can't be taken from v2. It's strange that v2 still doesn't work though, as I believe it said it's compatible with everything I have.
