Having problems with my H/W Buffer size
Hello,
I am Running Pro-Tools 7.3 on a Mac G5 2.0 Dual Processor with 1GB Ram. I record interviews and sermons that range in size from about 30 mins-1 hr but after about 7 mins. or so it stops recording. What can I do to correct this problem. The Error code is H/W Buffer size Playback engine Panel 6086 Thanks The Poet |

Re: Having problems with my H/W Buffer size
Are you recording to the system drive or to an external firewire hard drive?
Are you using the 002? If you are, then to what port is it connected to?

Re: Having problems with my H/W Buffer size
I am recording straight to the system drive!
and yes I am using the 002 going to the back firewire port. Are you saying I at least need 4.5 GB of Ram? |

Re: Having problems with my H/W Buffer size
I just hooked up my 003 console and I was getting the same error -6086 and -6093. What I did was trash the digidesign data folders on all my hard drives and made sure my P.T.L.E. system was up to date (latest versions for OSX) and re-started and it's ran perfect since. Error messages have disappeared.

Re: Having problems with my H/W Buffer size
Update to 7.3.1cs2.
1 Gig of RAM is marginal. I recommend two. Do not use your system drive for audio. Digi does not support that. Get a Firewire drive.

Re: Having problems with my H/W Buffer size
If you are not using a MBox Pro 2 then buy FW 800 drives. If you are then buy FW400 drives.
Other World Computing is one good provider. piece

Re: Having problems with my H/W Buffer size
Yes, you should not record to your Mac system drive.
It is not supported. You will need a firewire external hard drive. I use OWC's Mercury Elite. Other popular brands are Lacie and Glyph. Hope that helps.

Re: Having problems with my H/W Buffer size
Thanks a lot. I will get an external drive. So do I need to set up something special to record and save, or do I just record all of my sessions straight to the external drive?
And Yes it helped a lot I appreciate all of your help |
