hi,
i got an error on my system and closed out. When i re-opened, 12 audio tracks were gone and a slew of MIDI tracks had vanished. I'm very frustrated and wonder if there is anything that I can do to retrieve the tracks....thanks for your help.....

yes, if you crashed prior to saving, you may have lost the regions on the tracks, but the regions themselves will still be in your session's audio files folder, and you will be ably to import them into the regions list and drag them onto tracks using spot mode.Dull and tedious but ultimately effective.Good luck!

jayquik,
Also, you can try opening the session, and under File, try 'Revert to Saved'. But, post back it neither Peter(Last) nor my ideas work. There are a few more possible tricks.

create a new session, and use the "import tracks" command. If everything works fine, this should get the track back in with all the plugins and automation....

I had this happen a few times. After the first time, I turned on the Auto Backup function (Setups/Preferences) and set it for every 15 minutes.

The last couple times it happened, I was able to open the most recent backup and then save it under the original name and the most work I've ever lost is about 5 minutes.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for making me aware of that option. I wonder how it works? I mean, would it take up double the memory, to your knowledge?

Thanks, Roy

No...it doesnt use extra memory. All it does is saving extra sessions in a folder called "session backups". I does not save the audio-files or fade-files, just the session. And since sessions arent that big compared to audio-files it is a wise thing to do...

Hey, I was always liking to use that feature but I thought it would store to the original session. So, if I understand it correctly you are saying that backups will not be made to the original session file but set seperately!?

Is that right?
That would be perfect.

it will only store the session, not the audiofiles

If you want to backup your audiofiles, you should ude the "save a session-copy in" command, and check the "copy audio-files"-box...
