Default simple drum input device for MIDI

I wonder if anyone could recomend a simple midi drum that i could use to input beats. Thus far I ve be hammering on a keyboard with two (or more) fingers as I've seen a lot of people do. But there is some stuff I think I could get a better feel with using a pad of some kind and a couple of drum sticks. I don't need a whole kit; I think just one would do... Any suggestions?

Jason
