Default Restoration plugins?

Is there any thoughts on what are the best restoration plugins?

I'm going to be transferring some reel to reel recordings from a Revox next month so I'd like to pickup something that will clean any noise up.

I'm running Waves Z-Noise and the Izotope RX Bundle. Love them both! I have tried many others (having worked in restoration audio for a few years) and unless you can get or find a Cedar Cambridge to run the audio through (which we used to have at the studio and is VERY expensive-also at the time it was only PC based), pretty much anything else out there is going to do a great job (just avoid Sound Soap-others may have a different opinion on that). Also check out the new Waves WNS (Waves Noise Suppressor).

Also demo, demo, demo before you buy! Find the right plug-ins that work for you and your system (some of the restoration plugs tend to be pretty CPU intensive if their RTAS).

Avoid spending $2500 on the Algorithmix Renovator plug-in, I've tried it and it's not worth it's price (IMO). The Izotope Spectral Repair plug-in does the same thing (re-synthesizing) and really well.

http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/rx/#features (I liked this bundle better than the Wave Arts Master Restoration Suite).

I hope this helps! I'm sure others will chime in with a few that I didn't mention.

Ron

I'm curious if anybody has had the opportunity to really try out the new Sonnox Restoration bundle.
