Default before I buy a new LCD, will this original card work

I have an ATY,RV250, which I believe refers to an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro video card. It is original with the computer.
I want to get an LCD, probably 22 inch - will this video card work with a this new 22" LCD or cause problems?
- considering I'd also like to get a new monitor for photography as well as for pro tools, is there a better recommended video card to buy?

I do not suppose it would cause any problems, the only point will be the resolution you want to use for the 22" LCD...

1024 x768? Should not be a problem...
1280 x 1024? Should not be a problem...
1200 x 1600 or larger? I don't know for sure, but one of my G4's with a stock ATI Radeon 9000 Pro does it without a hitch with 2 x 20" LCD's connected...

It is possible that the driver for the video card is not up to date enough to handle the resolution of the newer wide screen monitors. A 22" wide has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050, so if your driver doesn't support that mode, you would be better off with some other solution.

It is possible that the driver is recent enough or that you could get a new enough one, but your older hardware is going to make that difficult.

I'm guessing that the only new video card you can get for PCI mac these days is this one: (if your G4 has AGP video then I don't know what might be available)

http://eshop.macsales.com/item/ATI%2...ies/100436014/

But at the bottom of the page, 1680x1050 is not listed.. It is possible their list is not complete, but you are venturing into difficult territory...

I would suggest that you confirm what resolutions are supported by your current video card, or the above PCI card, and then plan your monitor choice around that. LCD monitors look like crap when you run them at non-native resolution IMO
