It's called Control. Awesome plugin as well, does just what the name suggests

Great tip! This album sounds so crushed it hurts. Do a google search and find one of the "re-mastered" versions. There are about 3 decent ones out there done by fans of the band from the guitar hero tracks. All of them sound so much better than the "proper" release. You can use one of these as a side by side comparison of terrible mastering vs. decent mastering.

Thanks guys. I did use a compressor in the chain, and it made the mix more homogenic. I tried the SSL Comp buss compressor, but I didn't like what it did. So I switched to McDSP Compressorbank.

I have Solo by Brainworx that I use sometimes, but didn't have the need for it on this song. I liked the mix, but as mentioned I had to push it louder and louder. I still can't believe that I had to ride stem faders to help the limiter do its job, and all in the name of loudness. FUDGE!

MS processing is something I do when recording acoustic guitars, or when I get stereo mixes from clients. Other than that I don't use it much.

BTW - have you guys heard how the snare sounds on "Death magnetic"? I wanna cry...FUDGE!

Thanks again for all the tips and tricks. This is why I love the DUC.
