Is Pro Tools Becoming "The DOS" Of DAWs?

The point is you wouldn't use Melodyne, you'd be using the pitch/timing functions inherent in the system. There wouldn't be any 3rd parties submitting algorithms because the plugins would be coded by the company internally (no small side effect of this being stability and efficiency).

That was tested so many decades ago and no, please, just give me 3rd party plugins whether we're talking Pro Tools or PhotoShop. There just isn't a one company that masters it all.

Closest of closed system I'd like to use would be Avid's S6L but even then I could use 3rd party AAXDSP such as Sonnox. Just an example how different a full featured DAW is to a closed system.

Bad idea.........As a guy who's used and seen em all, inclusing AMS Audiofile, and RADAR, you're just asking for a slow death...none of these audio companies can afford anything, barely, let alone propreitary this and that.....just think how much better off someone like Neve or fairlight would have been, had they not painted themselves into a corner? great ideas, or good business model, and guess which one wins every time?
eventually YOU have to pay someone to come and take it away....
