Re: possible to control pro tools from a remote desktop?
Just spent the last hour and a half trying logmeinpro
The one issue is that the digidesign output is seperate from the computer's output and comes out of the digi card and not internally from the computer core driver. So unless you have a 2nd computer hooked up to the internet with a microphone or wired connection you cant hear the digi output. When I played quicktime on the remote desktop I heard that on my computer no problem

Re: possible to control pro tools from a remote desktop?
Upon review, I see a large kink in this idea. Controlling PT from another machine is one thing, but how will you hear what you are mixing?

Re: possible to control pro tools from a remote desktop?
You can use Source-Live with a bit of latency or Source-Connect with less latency to hear what you are doing on your remote pt rig.

Re: possible to control pro tools from a remote desktop?
What I suggest is to have on premise remote support appliance installed such as Bomgar or RHUB appliances in order to enable remote desktop access and sharing between laptop and studio computer. It works on both, Windows and MAC computers.

Re: possible to control pro tools from a remote desktop?
I'm on Windows 10 Pro and have used Microsoft's Remote Desktop to control Pro Tools with a W10 Home laptop and a Samsung Android Tablet (which I used with a regular mouse and keyboard). Note: you cannot control Windows Home using Remote Desktop, but W10 Home can control W10 Pro.
I also tried AnyDesk and TeamViewer, both of which were equally capable of controlling Pro Tools using my laptop or Tablet, BUT, neither apps allow the use of the Alt key as a modifier in Pro Tools. MS Remote Desktop does. If you just need a controller for Pro Tools, look at the Avid Control App.
