Question Re: Mbox2 Pro no sound

I know the last post was over 6months ago, but I've recently been having the same problem as well (right after I moved from Boston to Seattle area). I have an mbox pro 2, mac pro dual core 4GB RAM, 1TB HD, 2.66GHz. Everything was running smoothly when in Boston, but since my move to the west coast, I've been having this problem - I would be playing music on itunes or watching hulu, and all of a sudden -> NO SOUND. Itunes would still be playing, but there is no sound coming through my speakers. I freaked out the first time, but now it's happened over 20 times in the course of a month, and it's really starting to piss me off! I've tried a couple solutions: 1) changing my FW400 cable connected from mbox to my mac pro, and that fixes the problem temporarily, but it's not long before there's no sound again. 2) Restarting my computer and unplugging all of my FW connections - I have an external harddrive connected to the second FW400 port on my mbox. After unplugging those, too, I would plug it back in - sometimes it would fix the problem, sometimes it won't, but the "no sound" syndrome always comes back. If someone could help me with this, it would help me a ton!!

Also, I've been having the error "-6085" message quite a bit lately - the one that asks you to lower your audio buffer size but doesn't do anything even after you having done so. I've read several different posts on several different forums about BOTH these problems, and tried almost everything suggested but nothing has fixed either. If anyone has a solution to either, I would really like to hear it and get this mess fixed up! Thanks

Default Re: Mbox2 Pro no sound

Are you using the power supply with the Mbox 2 Pro?

If so, that's likely the problem - see the General Troubleshooting thread for more info...
