Default Best Pro Tools How To Book

I'm new to digital recording and dont have no formal training whatsoever but I'm I quick learner. I've pretty much mastered recording with ProTools(some big feat huh) and now I'm reading to start mixing. I need to know to use my plugs-ins, how to equalize, what is equalize, how to throw echoes on certain words, etc. I see that Digi has about 4 books they recommend but I dont know which when is best for me as a beginnner. Any recommendations would be helpful. Also, has anyone read the new Protools Bible thats came out or is about to come out?

Thanks

"Producing in the Home Studio with Pro Tools" by David Franz is the best, I think. Be sure you get the newest edition with covers Pro Tools 6.

Not ProTools specific, but the "InstantPro" series by Bill Gibson, who wrote the "AudioPro Home Recording Course" would be good. Each volume ("Equalizers, Reverbs & Delays," "Compression," etc.) comes with an audio CD of examples.

Finally, Bob Katz' new "Mastering Audio, the art and the science," while focusing on mastering, is a great resource for anyone working in audio, and a fun read.

Yes th David Franz book is great. Very down to earth stuff. Full of many of the things you will need to be able to do. There may be more detailed books, but this one seems to get straight to the point. Kind of written from the trenches.
Peace

The best book for Pro Tools is the Reference Guide from Digidesign. The two Pro Tools book out always tell you to look up for more info.

I wish someone would put out an "Idiots Guide to Pro Tools." I'd get it for sure. When I read the manual, strangely, my eyes glaze over.

The David Franz book and the DUC have been the most help for me. As well as just leaning by doing.
I am probably going to get the new edition of that book soon since it has PT 6 coverage.

Look into the instructional book and video's published by Mix Magazine. They might not be specific to Pro Tools some of them. But eq is eq and delay is delay.

If you're looking into pure mixing book the check out: The Mixing Engineer's Handbook by Bobby Owsinski
