Doesn't matter whether you're using Kontakt in standalone or as a plugin. If you want to have ongoing access to these instruments and not have to mess about with adding them one at a time then you're going to have to try one of the hacks but I'd advise against it.

You generally don't want to put anything in the Factory folder on your own.

Good point on NI Kontakt forums, though my errors popped in PT, not standalone. I will post there too after next round of testing the random file location approach.

PT working Ok now with Kontakt pointing to Folder of these Samplescience Nki files in a random location. Thanks all. Don't drop them in an existing instruments folder.

You can always open Kontakt and just drag the NKI file onto it.

Doesn't matter; when properly setup whether it's standalone or in a daw it should work the same. Notice I said properly setup.

See above. One of the issues is Kontakt isn't really meant to pull in individual nki's like you're trying to do; it's better suited for whole libraries.
