Default McDSP APB-16 anyone??

I really don't know where to post this, but it's certainly promising. It's a Thunderbolt Programmable Analog Processor. Release date Q2 2019.

I'm expecting it's going to set us back quite a fair bit, however.

Hahaha He did say less than 10.000 USD

My guess is around $999 as if they put a higher price on that box people will svy away. For most hobby studios $1000 is quite an investment so let’s hope they think about this long and hard!

It will be at least double that. I’d say closer to US$3000.

It’s 16 channels of analog. I pay twice that amount for 2 channels!! I’m sure you have too, if not more!! Haha!!

Unless he cheaps out on the components, I can’t see this being an inexpensive box.

That's probably more in the ballpark. It's not going to be cheap, thats for certain!!

Now that this has been out for a while: has anyone had any real world experience with this? Of course sonics are subjective, but what about reliability and stability? And will this connect to a HDX based system?

I have had one for years now. Love it. I use it every day with an HDX system. Never had any issues. It is a lot of money, but it is not expensive.

thanks for chiming in, that's good to know! I've always wondered how they get audio in / out of ProTools bypassing the whole HDX subsystem but I guess they figured it out!

Sadly, I never ended up with one myself... I have kids, what can I say. It certainly has made an impression in the industry.
