Overload
I am new to Mac and PT .I’ve just got the new Macbook Pro and having created a new session I set up 8 audio tracks, one midi and one instrument track all unused as yet.. Whilst playing the click track (which was sputtering here and there) it stopped and I got this message;
“A CPU overload error occurred, if this happens often, try increasing the h/w buffer size in the playback engine dialog or remove some plug ins. (-6101)” I did increase this to max with no change.any advice anyone? Cheers Macbook Pro 2.2 ghz intel core i7 OSX version 10.6.6 8g RAM Protools 9 Profire 2626 OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro 7200rpm 2TB |

Re: Overload
I have just changed the order of firewire components now have the profire first then the external hard drive....my settings are;
H/W Buffer Size 1024 Host Processors 8 CPU Usage Limit 85% I imported an audio track from a CD and got the same result and error message. I recently exchanged a 2 week old Macbook Pro for the new generation one (quad,thunderbolt) and had no problems with the first one....Cheers |

Re: Overload
You need to leave at least one or two processors for other tasks. Set it to 5 or 6 at the highest percentage it will let you.
