I have been having the same problems with the Canopus ADVC110 with PT8 crashing on start up, but I found a sneaky trick to make things a little less painful.

If you take the video track offline just before saving your session. The next time you open the session PT will not crash when creating the final windows and you can simply put the Video track back online.

Hope that helps! (Its a little easier than turning the Canopus on and off all the time.)

8.0.4 fixes this, and an update for LE and M-Powered is coming shortly.

I TOO!. . . can confirm this problem, and THANK YOU nhaudio for the work around. Although it is annoying, just glad there is something that works for now. Let's just hope Bob Brown sees us ALL having the same issue with the same resolve, and makes progress to an LE 8.0.4 update. . . :)

I went to 8.0.4. Then PT could not find hardware. Went back to 8.0.1 and that fixed the issue. SHelled shocked at this point as 8.0.3 gave me the canopus bug.

Not sure what to do at this point...

But thereʼs already a mistake...

For me, this bug happened by two ways :

The first one is now resolved (opening a session).

But the second one is not : when I remove video from firewire (deselect Video Out Firewire) PT crash ! But only if video track is offline. If video track is online, it works. Strange.

Does anyone can confirm this bug ?
