Nothing but 11R issues....
I have firmware 2.0.1, the 1.1.7 driver and still not cooperating. Downloaded the new 11R editor and that refuses to connect with the 11R. Finally was able to play the 11R into PT11, but playback is all static for the Addictive Drums and whatever I put in with the 11R.
The editor stopped giving the connection error, however it comes up as a blank screen and does not even acknowledge the 11R. Shutting off the 11R crashes my computer. I like the sounds of the 11R, but it has been a very expensive unusable device. Windows7Premium 64bit, i5 3.4GHz quad core, 16GB ram, 500hdd. |

Re: Nothing but 11R issues....
It sounds like USB connection issues and not so much an issue with your 11R.
First, do you have the 11R connected directly to a USB port on your computer or are you going through a USB hub? If you are going through a hub, try going direct and see if that helps. Also if you are connecting to a USB 3 port, try using a USB 2 port. Have you tried a different USB cable? How is your system set up? Are you saving your sessions to a separate drive than the one ProTools is set up on? If not, you are not going to be able to get smooth audio when recording / playing back. How do you have the 11R and ProTools set up? I would try using a low sample rate, like 44.1 and a higher buffer setting, 256 or higher as a starting point. Give some of these suggestions a try and let us know how it turns out. If nothing works, we'll most likely need some more information about your system so we can better help. |

Re: Nothing but 11R issues....
I have tried both 3.0 and 2.0 usb. Not necessarily a hub, but I am using the port on the front of my tower. I am using the cable that came with the 11R. I will switch to a port right on the motherboard. Yes, my PT11 is on my C drive. What should I switch to my storage drive, PT itself, or just where I store the recordings? I have been using the default settings as far as PT goes.
Thank you for the help. This has been a bit frustrating to say the least. |

As for the hard drives, leave PT on your C drive. All of your sessions should be saved on your storage drive. The storage drive should be a 7200 RPM drive. |

Re: Nothing but 11R issues....
Both my drives are 7200, but I will change where PT stores the files from my C to my 3TB storage drive and try a different USB cable.
Thanks again. I'll keep trying. |

Re: Nothing but 11R issues....
ok. different USB cable, plugged into motherboard USB 2.0. 44.1 sample rate. 256 buffer. and saving to my separate internal 7200rpm storage hdd.
still nothing but static on playback. the sound isn't even recognizable on playback as it is entirely static. I'm at my wits end. Been working on this everyday since Saturday and I've gotten nowhere with it. I don't need a $700 paperweight/desk accessory. |

Re: Nothing but 11R issues....
New update. Figured out in MixCraft I have to use Line3/4 11R input to get full volume and the 11R preset effects into it. Playback through my computer monitors is fine. Loud and proud. However, if I playback through the 11R, there is some static, but nowhere near the static from ProTools. In Mix, I can still hear the music through the headphones, it just sounds staticy, where as in ProTools, it's pure static.
On a side note, should the USB wiggle side to side easily in the back of the 11R? I have never seen a USB port this "loose" in a chassis before. Maybe that's my issue? But doesn't really explain the difference in static level between MixCraft and ProTools 10&11 Last edited by punisher911; 07-23-2014 at 08:52 AM. |

At this point I think I have a faulty unit.

Re: Nothing but 11R issues....
Yep. Looks like I'm getting a new 11R shipped out to me from the good folks at Sweetwater. They did a little remote session investigations and determined I need a new one. Good. I really want to start recording with this. Starting a new music project and this is not a good way to begin. lol
