Default Need help with New setup.

Hello,
Maybe someone on here has gone through these issues already and can help. Have looked up through the answer base to try to fix my issues and guess...no help. Suprised? not me.

Im a regular HD user that is finally trying to get my home setup up and going. So I just bought a Quad g5 2.5ghz(only 512mb of ram right now, i know its sad but waiting to get more). Updated to osx 10.4.8 and am running 7.3.1. My issue is I hit play and the beachball runs and 10secs later it starts playing. During playback there are audible glitches. The sessions I have tested this with are one with audio(31 waves plugs on it and cpu was halfway and sometimes jumping higher) and another one without audio that had 128 digi rack plugins(Eq3, Dyn3, 1176, and extra long delay, cpu was not evan at 1/3 of the way as far as uasge).

Both had the some issues...Pro Tools dialog comes up saying I need to increase hardware buffer(which is maxed out, set to using 4 processors, and 95% cpu usage limit. Dae playback buffer, have tried all the settings with the same issue)

Have tried:
-trashing digi database
-plugging firewire cable to front of G5
-setting cpu limit to 95% per digi's answers base solutions.

Any help would be great. Anything past telling me to get more RAM because I know thats part of the problem. But my my g4 single 1.25 with(1.75g ram) would handle the same session fine, meters would jump but there would be not delay of playback and no audible affects.

Thanks for all your help.

1- do yo have a second drive for audio are are you running your sessions off the system drive?

2- have you tried setting the multi-processer usage to 2 processors?

3- have you tried deactivating all of the plugins in the session with audio?

3- are there any background processes running?(startup items)

4- what version of waves are you using?

5- more RAM (at least another gig) would help alot.

6- did you get the 7.3.1cs2 update?

7-have you trashed PT prefs as per the troubleshooting sticky at the top of the forum?

Yes it is running off the same harddrive...Its too new to have gotten a new hard drive yet, thats next.

Just ordered 4gig of ram so that should do most of it

have still to tried, changing it to 2 processors and not going to bother to pull the plugins off the session with audio...Its that many plugs and it should be able to handle that and alot more. They are the waves diamond bundle version 5.1

Nothing is running in the background

I have trashed preferences

Have upgraded to 7.3.1 but is that different fromt he 7.3.1cs2?

I had the same problem with 512 megs of ram on my Dual 2.5 gig mac. I bought two gigs of ram and all the problems went away.

Right. Digi says you need at least 768 MB to run 7.3.x
