Spinning Beach Ball Of Death On G5?
Hello All, I am running PT-HD 7.3.1cs4 on a G5 dual 2.5 with 4GB of ram. I thought my machine would have been slamming fast when it came to using soft synths, which I primarily use. I guess I thought wrong cause today when i had an instance of Strike and Velvet open I was getting beach balls spinning like you wouldn't believe. I am up to date software wise and I followed all of the troubleshooting steps from this site to get PT and the OS working together. Is my machine just not fast enough? I was checking out the MacPro Clovertown processors on the apple site, those look incredibly fast,(and expensive)--is anyone using these yet? Does the power of that machine really allow you to have multiple soft synth instances open without beach balls? My work flow gets hindered by all of the waiting and delays? Can someone convince me to stay with my current rig so I don't go deeper into debt? Help a brotha out, thanks ,Brett
