Default Peak 2.5 or Spark or...?

Hello,
I am just about to buy a two track editing and "mastering" program. I only need basic functions because must of my work is made in PT.
Need to know your suggestions about it.

Thank you for any info.

Camilo.

Spark is cool: lots of 'pro'-features. Only disadvantage I can think of: it does not support direct editing of split-stereo-files (neither does PEAK I think, but I have PPC 2.5 or something...stopped upgrading the thang and bought me Spark instead)

I'd go for Peak. Why? When you perform an edit with Spark, unless you turn off "no undos," it has to write the original file to disk, make the edit, write it to a temp area and redraw the overview to a .ovw file. Performing lots of edits can take a frustratingly long time. With Peak, it's edit...done...edit...done...edit...done. It's that fast. All your undos are stored and are quickly recalled. Plus, it's very configurable. You can have a custom toolbar, custom keycommands, custom views....it's great.

I have both, and I find I use Peak more. But Spark is awesome for applying multiple plug-ins for stereo mastering.

Another Peak or Spark one !
Running PT on a B/W G3 350 , i want to edit (cut & ...)samples from my E4k (via SCSI?) in my Mac & afterwards back to the Emu .
What works best & fastest ?
What about the TDM versions of both programs ?

Marc

We use Peak TDM with an E-mu E5000Ultra. The SMDI implementation works faultlessly. ("Mac on SCSI bus"...you gotta love that!)

It's right that Spark would need some extra work: the separate overview-file and the backups are pathetic. Also direct support of split-stereo is welcome.

I hope TC is not turning away from Spark.

Spark 2.0 XL was announced at NAMM.

I still prefer Peak.
