Default Tv monitor & pt display?

I have a tv lcd hooked up hdmi. When viewing the mixer I have to continue to scroll up and down to see the first insert or the track name at the bottom. I only have the first insert and sends showing, but still does not fit the whle mixer on screen. Have tried different resolutions, but either it makes the mixer to small on screen. I guess im trying to make this work without any black edges on screen. So fit to screen but seeing the full mixer vertically.

What resolution is the TV capable of(and what are you running at). I use a 32" 1080P LED tv here, and the MIX window can show ALMOST everything without scrolling(I have 1 set of inserts hidden as I rarely use more than 5 inserts on any given track). If your TV is a 720, that's the issue as you have no more than 768 pixels from top to bottom(where I have 1080).
IOW, 1080P=good.....720= not so good

Ah yes, the inappropriately named 4K -- which is, in actuality, 2K.

Anyway, the black bars are a result of using an aspect ratio that is different from your TV. I'll operate under the assumption that you have a 16:9 television.

For 16:9, you only have a few real options. 1920x1080 and 1280x720... 1280x720 is generally too small a resolution for the Pro Tools mixer, regardless of how large your television is. Even 1920x1080 is too small for a fully-unfolded PT mixer.

However, 1920x1080 is just right for a mixer view with ADC, track color, inserts A-J, and one batch of sends.

Seiki Digital SE39UY04 39-Inch 4K Ultra $500.00
If perfect color is not an issue. (HDMI in for resolution)

That reminds me, the PC input(VGA) on a 1080P TV will not allow for 1920x1080. You need to go in via an HDMI input. If your graphics card has that, you're all set. If not, you can use a DVI-HDMI adapter or cable. BTW, all LED/LCD flat screens look best when used at their native resolution(although my 52" Sony looks fine at 1366x768 for web-surfing from the couch

Another BTW, a 39" LED TV, if its too close, will burn your eyes(found out the hard way). I went back to a 32" as my screen is about 3' from my face. A 39" LCD would be fine, but an LED would be better at 5-6' away

Yea, I had to use the 1080p. while i can see the full mixer now, the pt menu is hidn on top. Since i use a lot of short cuts, I'm ok with that.

If you are using a single monitor, you might consider a 2nd monitor; edit/mix is pretty common. I use a 42" 1080P TV via HDMI for edit, positioned in the center. Slightly to one side is a 23" via DVI for mix.
