List all the PCI cards you have in your system, all FireWire devices and your IRQ assignments. Since you know it's the computer.. you're going to have to start minimizing... Ghost your system and do a fresh XP install and start with installing nothing except Pro Tools... disable all uneeded hardware and any RAID stuff in your BIOS. Also check that you don't have bad RAM.

No PCI cars ..... no Firewire in MOBO...

I have (always) done a fresh install ( more than 30 times ) of Windows XP and PTLE.

I've disabled : Audio, LAN, VIA SATA RAID...(no RAID)... no SATA drives ... only IDE..... Serial and Parellel port disabled .... in the BIOS.... (i've tested every way...even the minimun minimun thigs to work)...

"Since you know it's the computer" it happened with my to PC's (i'm happy y could sell one)

"Also check that you don't have bad RAM" ... allready my 3 Cards (512Mb each) and a friend ( 2 x 256MB and everyone work well in his Pc with M-box)

"your IRQ assignments." before or after Windows take and assigns them???

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but have you tried taking your computer over to your friends house and testing it there? If the problem has happened with several different computers in your house it could be that your power is either not correct where it is being plugged in. Having a voltage that is too high or two low, or having dirty power could possible be a problem.

you could also try another USB cable and move the Mbox to the other side of your setup to see if the clicks are induced by some other hardware. I know you don't want to spend more money, but a good UPS is a good investment no matter what. My APC 800va was $120 and it solved a lockup issue with my system. I feel your pain.

So when you hook up an SM57 to your MBox and turn the Mix knob all the way to Input.. you get clicks in the headphones?

well....i'm sure i've tested the pc in everyplace of my town... : my house, parents house , 3 friends houses.. so no problem with electricity.....(besides a friend PC work good with my M-box)...

and the cliks get recorded.....and even we you are muting the other tracks.... you can even hear them when there's no tracks record-enabled.... and they are random...

Richon,

Your frustration is very evident and I have to feel for you. I am not sure that there has been anyone I have seen on this forum that has had a problem that has continued for the same length of time as yours.

Ouch.

Although, I am sure that with the knowledge here a solution will find you shortly.

Neil.
