Default PT 12.5: Inputting bass signal into MOTU 828 mkiii

Hi guys,

Basic question: I’m trying to get a bass signal directly into my audio interface and just want to know where and how to connect it...

I’m running PT 12.5 on a Mac. My interface is MOTU 828 mkiii. I have a mic plugged into the first input in the front of the unit. I have a guitar plugged into the second input in the front of the unit.

So if I want to add my bass, do I need to go into input 3 in the back of the unit?

Since the back inputs don’t have preamps or trim knob as the front ones do, is there another way to adjust the level to get it hot enough since I’m going direct in with my bass? I heard there is a digital trim adjustment for the back inputs via CueMix software. Is that the way to do it and how to go about that if so?

Thanks!
