Default Which DI Box lets you monitor what is being tracked & session click simultaneously?

Which DI Boxes can I use to monitor what I am recording into the DI Box and also hear my session so I can hear the click?

I assume that any DI Box that lets you monitor what you're putting into it will also have an Input that you can send from your DAW, but I am brand new to re-amping so I just want to make sure I get something that can do both.

??? What you describe doesn't exist AFAIK. A DI box is made to do 1 thing; convert an instrument or line source into a signal that can feed a microphone input. What you describe sounds more like an interface(your signature shows a Focusrite interface). I also thought that the Focusrite allows for instruments to be plugged directly into the front panel. Maybe spend some time on youtube watching some "getting started with pro tools" tutorials(leave out the "").

Re re-amping, a DI box may not be the correct tool for this. What are you wanting to use in this re-amping? Knowing exactly what you have will get the best advice.

This is like a question of do you want to buy a good or cheap car? If you want both you need two cars.

I see a lot of people going into a DI box, into their interface, out to their reamp box and then to the amp. Pretty much any youtube tutorial. They'll be using headphone monitors plugged into their DI box to hear what they are tracking. What I'm trying to figure out is how do they track in tempo if the DI Box is before their interface in their signal chain? youtube link i'm referencing:

I have never ever seen a DI box with headphone output. You are talking about interface there

You are very confused. You do not see folks plugging headphones into DI boxes because you cant do that. i suspect you are confused between what a DI box is and what an interface is.

In the exact video you link you give.... he is *not* using a DI box, he is using an Apollo *interface* that happens to have a DI input. That whole thingy is called an *interface*. He has the headphones plugged into the *interface*.

He happens to be doing hardware monitoring through the UAD console which is a capability of... wait for it... the UAD Apollo *interface*. But that's a choice, you can often track through Pro Tools and a guitar amp sim at reasonably small IO buffer size and get usable latency with any other *interface*.

Nowhere here have you even described what interface you have... many interfaces will have a built in DI input and that should be your starting point, if your interface does not have a DI input, or for more demanding cases, longer cable runs, more noise/hum issues then you might want to look at an actual DI box and you run that normally into a mic preamp input, if the interface does not have a built in mic preamp then you run DI box to an external preamp then to the interface. Or you use an external preamp with built in DI input.

This is an interface (with DI input)... https://www.uaudio.com/audio-interfaces/apollo-x4.html ... has headphone outputs...

This is a DI box.. https://www.radialeng.com/product/jdi ... no headphone outputs.

Interface (with DI input)... https://focusrite.com/en/usb-audio-i...t/scarlett-2i2 ... has headphone outputs.

Another DI box... https://rupertneve.com/products/rndi ... no headphone outputs.

Another DI box... https://warmaudio.com/direct-boxes ... nope still no headphone outputs.

And a goldfish... https://www.fishkeepingworld.com/fantail-goldfish/ ... also no headphone outputs..

And an interface (with DI inputs)... https://motu.com/products/avb/1248 ... oh and yes, headphone outputs.

Oh but an interface with no DI, no headphone outputs and no preamps... https://www.uaudio.com/audio-interfaces/apollo-x16.html

Making sense yet?
