Default Pro Tools 12.8.3 - Linking two channels in reverse volume ?

Hey folks!

Is there a way to link two channels (by grouping them up, or whatever) in a volume reverse mode? In other words, it is possible to go up and down with a fader on one chanel and get the opposite loudness changes on the other chanel?

Thank you!

So like a crossfade, but using a single fader? Not that I know of.

Well, sort of...

- duplicate track A (you now have to identical tracks of track A)
- insert trim plugin on both (A and A.dup)
- flip the polarity on one of them
- create a mix group with A.dup and B linking the volume
- riding the volume on track B will cancel out track A gradually

Here's an idea:

• Create a mono aux with signal generator with a sinus wave or noise, doesn't matter. Create a mono-to-stereo send, to f.ex bus 1-2.
• Now you can take any two mono tracks and insert a gate/expander on each. Set the gates to be side chained to bus 1 and 2, respectively.
• Now you should be able to use the pan control on the send to do that thing. And it should be pretty flexible.

You would need a pretty versatile gate/expander.

I never did this myself, but it should be feasible.

Edit: Of course, it doesn't have to be a send on the aux with the signal generator, you can set the noise track output to bus 1-2, and just use the regular output pan.

What a shame! This would be so useful for parallel processing to keep constant level while adjusting blend of original track and processed track.

Melda's MRatio can do this using two aux tracks and side chain input from an aux repeating the original source to MRatio hosted on the second aux with processing ... but it doesn't seem to work in PT.
