Default Re: "Normal" compression for vocals on pop or rock song?

As a matter of fact i found something inetresting remixing the vocal that get closer or maybe i find what im after .

In the mix have a room Dverb on vocal and drums . Differents of course.
I tried a Dverb plate instead of room in vocal and the vocal track went to the point that i said with a lot more highs and calrity !
I had to adjust the LP Filter to 4khz . This add that top end that im searching !

Thanks !

Another question :

With the drums . I mixed always the drums the tracks individually with every output to analog 1-2 . But lately i route all the drums tracks outputs to an stereo aux channel.
And control all drums volume in that aux track . I hear a change in sound when i do that . I cant explain it but i hear it more tight and more one big instrument sound in that way .

Thanks again !

Here is something to look at.... My last mix session.... Good fun lemme tell ya.

http://www.monumentsound.com/sessions/BigMix1.jpg

http://www.monumentsound.com/sessions/BigMix2.jpg

Tried to use only 4 plugs total on the session as far as compression and eq. URS A seies on pretty much all channels. RComp and/or RVox and Massey Tape head.

Just some ideas to throw out there for ya. Remember I am summing through a Dangerous 2 Buss so my outputs are labeled that way.

Best,

Doc

Youre right im gonna fix somethings here :

Hi !

I like mix mixes but im having hard time trying to get that airy quality and articulated vocal mix that you united states people get so easy
I mean a voal track that have a lot of air , h and s letters and whispers !
I know it can be done with my tracks because after mastering proccess i heard that effect on it .
But how i can get that effect as much as posible on my mixes before mastering .

Heres an example :

Thanks !
i am sorry man, i was making a joke about the song not being in english. i undertand completely what you are saying, no probs there

also:::: intel doc's mixes are KILLER!!!!!! some of the best i have heard out of our "mountain" region" by far, but he has some very nice hardware, nice room and knows how to use it. quite the triple threat!!

Thanks Guitardom appreciate the props. I try.....

Check out those session pics that I threw up. Rediculous track counts but the tune turned out pretty cool.

Thanks again,

Doc

Jeam,
Thanks. I layer verbs alot. The snare usually is my outboard Lexicon PCM90 and a tl space medium plate. Just varies from sng to song though. Sometimes I will trigger a prefader verb from a snare trigger that gets a different attack and a nice decay for a more room feel. Just varies man really.

Thanks for the compliments.

Best,
Doc
