Default AAE 6101 error

Lately, I´m getting CPU overload message errors AAE 6160 when I am recording, with no plugins inserted.

I didn´t change any cable or connection. What should I do???

Thanks a lot

I would start by Deleting Pro Tools Preferences, repair permissions on the system drive using Disk Utility, reboot, and try again.

If that doesn't help, I'd continue on with general optimization and troubleshooting, also found in the link above.

Does this happen on all sessions?

Somewhat concerned about that Thunderbolt converter cable. Any reason to not just run it straight FW 800?

I briefly tried to run a Thunderbolt rig on a Retina screen MBPro, and I felt constantly frustrated from not having control over sleep and wake-up controls on my external drives (LaCie). It seemed like I could barely go 2 or 3 minutes of not accessing them before they would wind down; then the next time I hit play I'd either get an error, or I'd hear them whirring up and it could be a 5 second wait for them all to find their footing. And yes, I had the correct preferences checked in Energy Saver and I remember looking for all kinds of utilities to fool the drives into thinking they were being accessed. I just thought what a monumental waste of the speed promised by this form of connection.

"Green" drives try to spin down. Those drives are not recommended for Pro Tools. What drives are you using?

Do you have ANY third-party plug-ins in your Pro Tools system?

Any WD discs were black-label. They came with the LaCie enclosures. When I switched back to a 5,1 desktop, I put the same two drives in particular into the internal slots of the Mac and they don't do that. Choices were more limited as to Thunderbolt enclosures at the time, so if I switched back I'd search around more for other options. I'm just saying maybe spin-down is a factor here.

I'm using WD Black drives and they work well on my MacPro. No spin down. But I'm not using any Thunderbolt interfaces.

I have only one FW port, used by the digi 003. I can daisychain the HD drive using the spare digi FW port, but I read it's not a good idea
