Default 003 PT 8.0.4 Windows 7 not recording

I have seen some relevant posts out there with people having the same problem I am. However, I have yet to find an answer.

Windows 7 64 bit
Core i7
Pro Tools LE 8.0.4
003 Rack

Last night I tried to add a vocal part to a previously recorded guitar track. The guitar track was recorded a couple of weeks ago on my current system. I plugged in my Shure KSM mic to input 1 on my 003 Rack. Made sure phantom power was on and the gain was up on the rack. Created a new mono audio track in PT. Set the input on the mono audio track to input 1. Record enabled the track. Talked into the mic. No signal showing up on the track in pro tools. I increased the gain on the 003 to where the clip indicator light was flashing on the 003. Still no signal in PT.

I have trashed my prefs. Restarted. Double checked the phantom power. changed mics. changed mic cables. Double checked the I/O settings. Any solutions?

(and yes.....I made sure the input on the 003 rack was set to mic not di)

That was kinda my question, does the DI work? Does input 2 work? Sounds hardware related.

The Mic inputs 2-4 don't work either. The DI (or line) inputs 1-8 don't work either. On the rack I can tell I am getting signal because the peak indicator light comes on but still no signal in pro tools

Not sure what to tell you. I spent all day recording on my 003/8.0.4/Win7 64 bit and never had a recording issue.

I have been using this system for a couple of months and am just now having this issue. I also experience random clicks and pops every now and then. I usually have to restart my computer and they go away.

I am having the same exact issue you are having but am running Pro Tools LE 8.0.4 on a Dell e1505 laptop with Windows XP. I have a feeling the issue we are having is related to the upgrade to 8.0.4 and something to do with the i/o because I had used my mic and DI inputs to record guitar parts a couple weeks ago but ever since I upgraded to 8.0.4 I cannot get any signal into pro tools from either a microphone or DI or the analog inputs (tried inserting an outboard compressor to compress a bass track and the signal was being sent to the compressor and showing up there but not coming back into pro tools). Please let me know if you figure this issue out or else if I can't fix it I will either try system restore back to before I upgraded Pro Tools or contact Avid customer service.

My opinion only, but if I were running XP, I would not go to 8.0.4. 8.0.1cs2 worked better for me(I still have that system drive available in case I run into a snag with my Win7/64 bit setup).

As you can see in my signature, 8.0.1 cs2 is my choice for an XP system.

if on XP, be aware that Avid has announced it will not support XP or Vista after Pro Tools 8.0.4
