This is where Avid needs to be applauded...they moved the price point down to $3k The price was crazy high until about 18 months ago.... $3k USD is not a lot of money $3k for UAD’s top product $3k for Apogee’s top product $3k for MOTU’s top product $3k for Antelope’s top product I know they are not apples to apples but $3k isn’t a ton of money.....Avid has always pitched foremost to the Professional tier first (for better or worse)

HDX is just a dsp card. A noisy one. For anyone working in one room there are a lot of additional costs involved. Regardless they are not 3K here.. more like 4.5 And i would need 2 as i need the voice count. So.. 2 HDX cards, HD software and interfaces.. it would be 20 grand AUD for what I need. Plus the iso box for 4K. 24K lol.

Re: hdx aaxdsp is dying
It would be so awesome if they provided low latency os drivers and mixer software like the UAD stuff so you could use the hdx hardware with any daw. That might breath more life into the hdx line. More likely they will come out with some new hardware that does just this and the hdx will be dropped or unsupported.

Re: hdx aaxdsp is dying
It would be amazing enough to release a HD|hybrid box based on the current HD|native TB that has two digilink ports and a headphone output. Put in at least half a card of DSP if the marketing suits won't allow more, and ALLOW THAT BOX TO OPERATE STANDALONE without interfaces, only using headphones. I wouldn't ask more for a HDN upgrade, and any leftover HDX-DSP chips after the mixer has eaten some is just a great bonus.
Just my thoughts, anyway...

Re: hdx aaxdsp is dying
avid prices dropped finally where it made sense for me.
the only reason i went the ebay route was because hdx cards were out of stock at most retailers and no one knew exactly how long it would be before avid would start shipping again. Tried guitar center, alto and vk. Even spoke to avid directly at namm…there was nothing to be had due manufacturing issue. I got frustrated and tired of waiting for over a month. ej |

I love HDx. I can track with DSP at low latency and I have more than enough DSP plugins to do what I need. I was happy to see them drop the price but I'd be curious if they'd be better off dropping it further to gain market share and thus more DSP development. HDX plus Omni (+ PT) for $3995 would be awesome. C

I have never been bothered by HDX Card noise.

however if they hit the $3k mark I believe you could compete with the likes of UAD's flagship / Apogee's flagship / MOTU's flagship. $3k for HDX/Omni/PT Software/ you move unit's of HDX - WIN for them The Omni is good but the limited io's makes it a serious intro interface - WIN for them PT Software - year after year will generate revenue. WIN for them they will win all around, market share revenue plus subscription revenue. yeah and noise from the card is nonexistant. I don't even really have a problem with my HDio and noise.

Re: hdx aaxdsp is dying
HDX is only going away according to Avid's competition!
It's absolutely dominant in high-end sound reinforcement.
