Looking to put together a stable, cross platform Protools 2020 rig for a college
I am helping a friend at a college put together an audio rig for the recording program. He likes Studio One.I like Pro Tools,of course...
We have a Focusrite D16 and a Neve RMP D8 already purchased. We will be adding an outboard comp or 2(Warm Audio La2a style) We will be connecting the interfaces via Dante We will be Mac based on Catalina I was thinking of PT2020+S1+Studio One(for my friend),or PT2020+Faderport16+Studio One The budget is moderate. The idea is to teach the students signal flow and how to navigate the interface/edit/etc.Less on mixing and more on recording sources properly. This rig will also record recitals/ensembles for the school,so it has to be stable.Your ideas here?Is there a better solution(aka a small format digital mixer that can serve as a controller and combine the interfaces and outboard instead of just buying a control surface only?)The interface will be fed lots audio inputs simultaneously from the ensembles. Is Protools 2020 stable enough? Can I run Studio One on the same machine from time to time and keep my friend happy? Thanks Again, Studiostrat |
