Pro Tools won't launch - 'Pro Tools LE quit unexpectedly'
Hi there,
I would appreciate some help. I am running Pro Tools 8 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 on a Power Mac G5 (PowerPC). It was working fine until I decided to install some items from the Pro Tools ignition pack that came with Pro Tools. I installed Melodyne Uno (which I was prompted to install Melodyne Essential during the registration stage. I didn't install Melodyne Uno first. Not sure how relevant all this is but it may help.), Amplitube LE, SampleTank SE 2 and T-Racks EQ. I then went to launch Pro Tools but it wouldn't open saying that it 'quit unexpectedly' each time I attempted to launch it. Troubleshooting attempts: -I did a 'Repair Disk Permissions' from the Disk Utility -I removed all of the programs that I had installed -I rebooted my computer Any advice would be much appreciated, it's pretty important that I get this running ASAP. Cheers, Joe. |

Re: Pro Tools won't launch - 'Pro Tools LE quit unexpectedly'
You might want to drag the plugins out of your plugins folder and then delete databases and preferences. I'm suspecting that some of the ignition pack plugins need to be updated (or some may simply not be compatible with PTLE8) and need to be removed. Instructions are in the general troubleshooting sticky post above.

Re: Pro Tools won't launch - 'Pro Tools LE quit unexpectedly'
That's exactly right!
Drag all of the plugins in the 'USED' folder, into the 'UNUSED' folder. Then re-boot pro tools. If it loads fine etc then you know that the problem lies with a plugin. If not, then you can look elsewhere. Also, use this little cheeky for deleting databases etc: http://web.mac.com/jcdeshaies/Delete...Bienvenue.html Good luck

Re: Pro Tools won't launch - 'Pro Tools LE quit unexpectedly'
Thanks for all your advice. Managed to solve the problem. I realised it was crashing when it got to the Digi ReWire plug-in. I removed this plug-in from the folder and it booted fine.
Deleted anything that resembled the problematic plug-ins in the first place too. Not sure which one caused the problem but maybe one day I'll get the guts to put some back on. Just keep it running for now. Cheers again, Joe. |

Re: Pro Tools won't launch - 'Pro Tools LE quit unexpectedly'
Here's an answerbase with more info:
http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...&categoryid=34 Updating your ReWire compatible applications (Live, Reason, Melodyne, etc) should allow you to put the DigiRewire plug-in back in and be able to use apps in ReWire mode... |
