Calculating Video offset hdmi external monitor
hey guys,
usually when i work a broadcast promo session out of my laptop at home , I view QT out of my laptop screen and have my video offset at 3 quarter frames. Now i have to work in a slightly modified setup where client needs to be able to look at QT from an HDMI connected external monitor, how do I calculate video offset? thanks |

Re: Calculating Video offset hdmi external monitor
In addition to the post guys "stroke" material, there is a link on the site that Buccanears linked to titled "Ye Olde Radio Museum".
Here is the direct link: http://www.pharoahaudio.com/yeolderadiomuseum.html I haven't had a chance to read more than just a tiny bit of it, but it details the restoration of several old radios. Since my voice probably came through some of them back in my "radio days" (just kidding...I'm not that old) I found even the tiny bit I read absolutely fascinating...

Re: Calculating Video offset hdmi external monitor
slightly off tangent but just for reference (ha) - when making 2 pops in the UK we are advised to make them 2 frames long so that they survive the stasdards conversion process goping across the pond.
food for thought cheers

You'll never know for sure w/o the Syncheck box.

Re: Calculating Video offset hdmi external monitor
Start spotting ADR or doing intense sound design and a syncheck becomes INDISPENSABLE... I also have specifically worked with clients who by name asked if the displays were calibrated with a syncheck as part of technical requirements.

Re: Calculating Video offset hdmi external monitor
Syncheck is an indispensable tool. Couldn't live without it. We all have different perception of what is or isn't sync. With Syncheck, there is no guessing.

Re: Calculating Video offset hdmi external monitor
What I am having problems with is that the rest of the world has 2 pops, whereas here in OZ we have 2 pips.
