Default Control 24 w/o pre\'s

I'm begging for a no pre option on the control 24. I think that I a long with a lot of other engineers like their mic pre's, and are turned off by the C24 because of the fact that you have to buy 16 focusrites...no choices. Just maybe sometime in early 2002 maybe. Thanks

Anyone else agree?

I wouldn't hold your breath for this one. It's a package deal between Digi and Focusrite. The likelihood of Digi pulling the pres and reducing the price would seem very slim indeed. I haven't used the pres on my C24 yet becuase I have some Neve's that I'm very happy with, but I think the price for the console is fair even if the pres weren't included if you compare it to Pro Control. Besides, you never know when you may need some more mic pres or DIs in a pinch.

regardless of whether you think digi would do it, you have to admit if you didn't already own it you'd buy the one w/o pre's in a heartbeat

I've just finished a long drum session using C24.

The OH's were recorded using Tubetech preamps, BD and Snr went thru a TLA C1 and both Toms, lower snr, ambience and HH, went thru the C24's preamps.

I must admit we've never had such a clear drum sound in our studio (formerly Mackie 32/8).

Probably so, but the reality is that there isn't one without pres and there's not going to be one. So you can either buy it with the pres or buy something else.

Buy a C24, pull the pres out and I'll buy em all for $50 if you really must not have them!
