Default The old "valid audio drives" NTFS problem...

Hi folks,
starting my first PTLE project, and
I've got a brand new WD120 Caviar drive all nicely formatted in NTFS.
As I try to name the session and save it
I get the "session must be on a vaid audio drive"
message.
After searching through the help database I can't find a conclusive answer regarding a fix.
Can someone take a sec to clue me in.
Thanks.

Are you able to copy regular files onto the drive? If not you probably have not taken all the steps to get it up and running.

1. Initalize the drive
2. Make a partition
3. Format the drive

in xp to do this you go to computer management, then I believe there is a hard disk management where you can get to the stuff that lets you do that....

Yes, I did read the instruction regarding the DMA, but I did not catch the "dynamic" vs. "basic"
distinction.
Muchas gracias!

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, HOWEVER, I TRANSFERRED THE FILES AND OR OPENED A NEW SESSION ON THE PRIMARY DRIVE AND IT WORKED. I HAVE A 001 AND XP ONLY SUPPORTS 32 TRACK 24 BIT ON ONE IDE CONTROLLER. ANY FILES OPENED ON THE SECONDARY DRIVE WOULD COULD BE OPENED AS LONG AS FILE ALLOCATION WAS FROM THE PRIMARY DRIVE. THIS SUCKS! I HAD WINDOWS 98 SE AND SWITCHED TO WINDOWS XP PRO USING NTFS, BUT HEY I LIKE HAVING 32 TRACKS!

Yes the drives is formatted, etc...
as I said, it's been formatted with NTFS.
It is not my boot drive, it is supposed to be a storage drive for my PT files.
Do I have to keep PTLE and all the hp?As on the same drive???
