Default Buffersize Problems HELP!!

My Pro Tools system is working fine when in mix mode, I can easily mix with a fair amount of heavy plugins, but to my extreme horror, today when I tryed to record "4 track" test all I got was an "increase buffer size" and "decrease buffer size" answer; it happens on both 24 and 16 bit sessions, although in 16 bit mode I can record dead air as long as I don't feed it audio; When I doit, it stops saying that PT holded interrupts for too long (- 9093); What does it mean? It is extremely strange not to be able to record 4 tracks on a 1800XP Athlon with 512 Mb Ram and Asus A7m266 Motherboard.

Please Help!! I should be starting a new project on sunday!!

gerax:

The same thing happened to me! Try this. Save the session as a copy in 16 bit. This should solve the problem. When I bounced some tracks to disc at 24 bit, and brought them back into the session, I began to have the same errors. However, once I saved a copy of the same session at 16 bit, the problem went away. My friend told me not to record or bounce to disc using 24 bit and now I know why. I hope this helps. This may be of no help, but sometimes you get this error message when it seems like buffer size has nothing to do with the problem. A couple examples (for me anyways) are when you fast forward or rewind and then hit play, or sometimes using the '2 bars' option when midi recording.
