Default Help Opening/Converting PT 5 Tracks?

Hi folks, I'm new here. Not sure where else to turn!

Long story short, in 2010, my band did a project on a friend's ancient computer using Pro Tools 5 LE. That computer's hard drive got corrupted at some point, but I still have the Unix project files on my own hard drive. There are some individual tracks from that project that I'd like to extract and convert to .wav files so that I can re-record those songs (and do them justice!).

I read here that PT 10 and earlier can open PT 5 projects, but as I am a [poor] musician, I don't own any versions of PT, and my efforts to seek out someone who does have ended in failure.

Can anyone with PT 10 or earlier please extract these tracks and convert them to .wavs—or even MP3s—for me? I'd be forever grateful!!

Default Help Opening/Converting PT 5 Tracks?

In both sessions, Audio 4 was the name of the track and resulting files where the piano was recorded. Both sessions are missing audio files from their audio files folders, and the Audio 4 files happen to be among the missing.

Oh man, it figures. So they're gone forever, huh? Ah well. Maybe we can try to plink it out by ear.

Thank you so much for checking it out! I can finally put it to rest.

oh man, it saddens me to hear that..... I wonder how many a great song has been lost in the same way. If you still have the original corrupt hard drive there are recovery services some at a big premium though but could be a possibility.

Indeed. We have the completed whole-band tracks fortunately, as well as a few retakes and such of some of the other instruments, but I foolishly did not save the individual tracks as wavs or MP3s. I think the guy that owns the computer took it in to see if it was recoverable, but they told him it was no good. The only other thing we could think of was to see if he had another drive with a backup somewhere... but I doubt he's checked. Busy life and all that.
