"I also upgraded yesterday, fresh install and tried ProTools 10 first thing and all i'm getting is "An. incompatible version of the OS was found. Pro Tools 10.3.9 requires Mac OS X version 10.7 or higher.""

YEAH! I just got that too. The 10.3.9 installer will NOT run on Yosemite. This needs to be fixed ASAP. I am getting a weird thing where the plugin selection menu is whited out unless my mouse scrolls over it.

Why are people upgrading to a brand new, unsupported OS?

If you fall of the ground and kick your feet and cry at the same time, I've heard that helps you get your way in life.....

pT10 will never be supported by Yosemi nor approved.

Some people only use Pro Tools occasionally and use the advantages of a new OS more frequently.
I'm using Yosemite as my primary OS, but boot into Mountain Lion and Mavericks occasionally.

Yeah. People should be curious on a separate partition and be calm as their main partition still works.

What amazes me is people are willing to upgrade without a fail back plan. I go into every upgrade thinking it is going to fail, and have a way to quickly boot back to the previous OS. I've seen to enough large businesses seriously hurt with server/app fails at upgrades done by IT "professionals". I never overwrite my primary boot partition until I know an install works then I'll clone it back to there, and always do a clean OS X install. Always have two usable image backups of boot/system on two different physical drives. In my case I need recent OS X releases for X Code reasons but I am in no hurry to run Pro Tools on any recent OS X release (that is left using Mountain Lion and there is just no hurry to move from that).

I love the clear way Apogee communicates OS X compatibility. http://www.apogeedigital.com/blog/ap...10-10-yosemite. Kind of makes you cry, and I know who will be making the next interface I buy.

Avid has a huge surface they have to test over of Pro Tools, interfaces and drivers, control surfaces, third party interfaces, etc. etc. so while I wish they did a better job at this, asking/expecting Avid to be there on release day with wide support is likely asking the wrong thing (e.g. I'd rather see a high priority on fixing known bugs, say at the moment with some issues with Pro Tools 11). And Avid is still living down to some extent chasing too many things, doing too many interfaces at the low-end that it struggles to support, but upgrading and seeing if stuff works should be just a simple low-risk experiment, I can't believe people are willing to risk doing so without a rock solid fail back plan.

That is nice. Short and clear info.

You know, I actually admire the way Avid test and certify their software on various platforms, software and hardware. That kind of professionalism is not that common any more.

I will not blame Avid for being "slow" in regards of maybe not willing to begin testing their complex software until there is a release version of a new OS made available. Who knows what Apple feels like changing in the last minute before releasing the OS to the public? I mean, it's quite known now that Apple aims it's business towards the end user or masses and not the fewer pro users. The end users are usually more tolerable to changes than the pro user due to the naturally more complex installation and usage of the pros setup.
